President George Washington first imported a female in 1786 and then a mate for her the next year. Dalmatians are also known as firehouse dogs because of their history of running next to the fire trucks towards danger. They are fierce, loyal and unafraid of danger. We love them because they are graceful, beautiful and part of American tradition!
